On Tuesday, I posted a link to an article by Johnathan Chait at New York Magazine that talked about a natural Democratic majority forming in this country - one that had actually been around for a while and was reforming now. I found it to be a well-reasoned piece, and still do.
However, a piece today at RealClearPolitics by Sean Trende gently rebukes Mr. Chait's argument, and it too is well-reasoned. Mr. Trende argues that some of the premises of a natural Democratic majority cannot be borne out when scrutinized with other data points, and he makes a compelling argument as to why that is the case. He also has a chart (I love charts) to reinforce his arguments.
